The store owner scamming story.A store owner has lost his lottery licence because of trying to scam someone.  RD’s Deli and Market in Melrose will no longer be selling lottery tickets because the owner of the store tried to scam a mentally disabled woman out of her winnings.  This is probably one of the worst things that a person can do, since trying to scam a person out of money is one thing, but trying to do so with a mentally disabled person makes it that much worse.  It is a fact that not all such cases are reported, since many people do not even realize that they have been scammed, depending on the method used, which means that there are probably other people that have done the same and have not been caught.  It really is sad that we live in a world where people would do things like this for money. The woman bought a winning ticket at the store, and the prize was for $10 000, but when she went to redeem the ticket, the store owner told her that the prize was just for $1000 and he then gave her $950 cash.  When doing this, he not only did wrong by trying to scam the woman, but also made another violation because of the fact that prizes more than $600 must be claimed at one of the six regional lottery office locations.  That alone is enough reason for the store owner to lose his licence in some cases, so all things considered, it is a good thing that it happened.  The sad part is that players will no longer be able to buy tickets at that store, and that they should be able to do so without the fear of getting scammed, but we are sure that they will find another location and rather buy there anyway, after this has happened. Luckily, the woman found the whole thing a little odd and told a family member about it, after which the family member got into contact with the Massachusetts State lottery and informed them about the situation.  After questioning the store owner, he admitted to taking the ticket.  He had not redeemed it yet, luckily, which means that the situation was still not that bad. The ticket was then returned to the woman and she claimed her winnings on the 16th of December. For now, the store owner’s licence has been suspended indefinitely, but they are looking to terminate it permanently. It is sad that something like this happened in the lottery scene, but if there is one thing that every lottery player should learn from it. is that they should be vigilant and be sure that they know the rules and regulations when it comes to claiming winnings and so forth.  If you are sure about your facts, people will find it very hard to scam you.  In other words, as the cliche goes, knowledge is power. Goodluck! #Playthelotteryrightnow
