Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant will not play in Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols. Kyrie Irving is also out due to right index finger sprain. Update to the Status Report for tonight’s game at Philadelphia: Durant (health and safety protocols) – OUT https://t.co/ykjb0KGR3T — Brooklyn Nets (@BrooklynNets) February 6, 2021 Durant’s status follows Friday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors in which he was pulled from Brooklyn’s lineup just prior to tip-off due to contract tracing, then was allowed to return to the bench in the first quarter and subsequently take the floor before ultimately being pulled for the final time in the third. Following the game, it was reported that Durant wouldn’t travel to Philadelphia and could be lost for multiple games for the second time in a month. While the final minutes of Friday’s game ticked by without him, Durant tweeted out the words, “Free Me,” as well as another statement critiquing the league’s handling of his situation. Irving played the entirety of the game against Toronto. This will be the ninth contest he’s missed this season.
